Last week proved to be another productive one for Kentucky Football H.C., Mark Stoops. The staff gained some more momentum in recruiting with three offensive commitments.
February 1st saw Stoops and Co. pick up two skill position play-makers in three star RB JoJo Kemp and three star WR Jeff Badet. Badet 5'11", 170, 4.5 is a quick and elusive receiver who displays a knack for getting into space in the secondary and making defenses miss tackles. With the Wildcats' receiver corp somewhat thin by most Air Raid offense standards, a play-maker like Badet is a welcome addition. Kentucky was chosen over UCLA, USF, Wake Forest, Louisville and a few other D-1 programs and you have to love Stoops snagging some guys from the Cards, especially after the near harassment of other recruits who have chosen UK over UL. (i.e. Nate Willis)
Kentucky also secured the services of RB JoJo Kemp. We looked at Kemp last week and the Wildcats could have picked up one of the more underrated RB prospects left in the class in the young man from Florida. He has good size and an even better frame. At 5'11", 190, he runs a 4.5-40 and could add 20 to 30 pounds and become a force between the tackles but also has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield with good results. Stoops won a battle with Pitt to secure the commit from Kemp and Big Blue Nation will likely be seeing much of JoJo in the coming years.
This weekend the Cats also picked up a commitment from Florida OL Nicholas Haynes. Haynes played much of his high school career at tight end and tackle but the staff at UK are recruiting Haynes as a center because of his footwork and football intelligence. Haynes chose UK over UCF, FAU and Southern Miss.
National Signing Day is Wednesday and the Wildcats are looking to sign a full class of 25. As a side note, it is interesting to note that at least two receivers have mentioned taking their visits with Patrick Towles. I get the feeling more and more that Towles is the early favorite among the new staff for QB.
