By the numbers: The history Kentucky wrote against LSU
The morning after, UK Athletics' postgame notes landed, and they read like a history book. Here's what the 35-34 OT win over No. 10 LSU put in the record book:
- First back-to-back overtime games in school history. Both won in the first OT, both 35-34. The last time UK won consecutive games by the same score? 1911.
- CJ Baxter's 77-yard run on UK's first offensive play is the longest ever by a Wildcat against an AP top-10 team, and the longest ever against LSU. He finished with 123 yards and two TDs.
- Brock Coffman's 55-yard punt return TD (watch it above) was UK's first since 2021.
- Will Stein is the first coach in school history to beat two ranked opponents in his first season, and Kentucky has two wins over AP top-10 teams this year for the fourth time ever.
- The defense held an LSU offense averaging 43.6 points and 547.8 yards to 34 and 410, with only 94 rushing yards.
Kentucky is now 5-1, 3-1 in the SEC. History is fun. Let's make more of it in Norman.
