Kentucky Roundup: Safeties Shine, Humphrey-Grace a 'Bonafide Star,' Stein at the Breeders' Cup

Kentucky football has the weekend off, so Saturday is all about the defense that got the Cats here.

Start in the back end. KSR says Ty Bryant and Jordan Castell are giving Kentucky 'uncommon' play and production at safety. KSR also calls Mi'Quise Humphrey-Grace a 'bonafide star' on Kentucky's defense. And the next wave is coming: On3 is scouting Kentucky's defensive commitments, and offensive line commit Reed Gerken says Kentucky "isn't going to be a one-year thing".

While the Cats rest, everybody else plays. KSR notes the Oklahoma-South Carolina winner could become a ranked road win on Kentucky's resume, and it's tracking how former Kentucky football players are performing in 2026. Will Stein found time for a little Commonwealth fun too, as KSR reports he delivered a trophy to the Breeders' Cup winner's circle.

Around the Blue: the Kernel says a decisive first half propelled Kentucky women's soccer to a win over Ole Miss, and No. 7 volleyball is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Missouri.

Our Take: an open week with this much praise for the defense is a good week. Rest up, then Tennessee is next. Go Cats!
