UK Men's Swim & Dive Beat USC 199-100 in Bloomington; Indiana Takes Both Duals | Big Blue Times card

Kentucky's men picked up a big win Friday in Bloomington. The UK men beat Southern California 199-100 at Indiana's Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center, per UK Athletics and USC Athletics.

It was a split day for the Cats. Host Indiana won both of its duals with Kentucky, 191-108 on the men's side and 218-82 on the women's side. USC's women edged Kentucky 159.5-140.5.

UK came home with four program top-10 swims. Filippo Bertoni went 8:55.07 in the 1000 freestyle, the fourth-fastest time in school history, and Dziugas Miskinis was right behind him in 8:56.37, now fifth. Stephan Steverink won the 200 freestyle in 1:34.50, fifth-best in program history, and Felix Dressel-de Bruyn moved to seventh all-time in the 100 breaststroke (53.62). Falemana Tuufui won the 50 freestyle and Lysander Osman won the 100 backstroke.

For the women, Sarah Anne Shaffer was second in the 200 breaststroke, Katy Jost led UK in the 500 freestyle (fourth, 4:46.05), and the 400 freestyle relay was third in 3:22.25.

Our Take: Beating USC by nearly 100 points and putting four swims into the record book on the road is a good night for the men. Indiana is the measuring stick, and the gap there is real, but this group keeps dropping times. UK hosts Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 6 at 5 PM ET.
