Kentucky Adds Alfred Aboya, John Pelphrey to Basketball Staff

Kentucky men's basketball made two staff additions official on Tuesday. Alfred Aboya joins as an assistant coach, and former Wildcat John Pelphrey returns as Director of Player Development.

Aboya most recently was head coach at NBA Academy Africa and of the Cameroon national team. UK Athletics says he will play a large role in the Wildcats' international recruiting. He played at UCLA from 2006 to 2009 and reached three straight Final Fours.

Pelphrey, one of the Unforgettables from the 1992 senior class, spent the last seven seasons as head coach at Tennessee Tech after earlier head jobs at South Alabama and Arkansas. His No. 34 jersey hangs in Rupp Arena. Per Kentucky Men's Basketball on X, "Welcome, Alfred Aboya and John Pelphrey to our staff." UK Athletics notes the hires are pending background checks; the full release is here.
