Kentucky Football Is Doing Things It Hasn't Done Since 1977

Kentucky fans, pinch yourselves. The Wildcats just finished October without a loss, and according to KSR's Nick Roush, that hasn't happened since 1977.
Our Take: This team keeps falling behind and keeps finding a way to win. That isn't luck anymore. That's who these Cats are.
The numbers back it up. Per KSR, Kentucky's 5-1 start in SEC play is its best since 1977, and the Wildcats trailed at some point in every game of their six-game win streak. It's only the third time in program history UK has won five straight SEC games. The defense held Vanderbilt to 15 rushing yards, the fewest by an SEC opponent since 1996, and Kentucky's +13 turnover margin is the best among Power Conference teams. Ty Bryant and Jordan Castell are tied for the SEC lead with four interceptions apiece, and the Cats have been flagged just 36 times, fewest in the league.
The young guys are a big part of it. Wildcats Wire notes freshman receiver Kenny Darby has been named SEC Freshman of the Week three times in four weeks after catching four passes for 71 yards and a 44-yard touchdown in the 34-17 win over Vanderbilt. His 507 receiving yards lead the team.
What to watch: No. 8 Kentucky (7-1, 5-1 SEC) is idle this weekend, then visits No. 16 Tennessee on Nov. 7 at 6:15 PM ET. Get healthy, keep that discipline, and bring it to Knoxville. History is already on the board. Let's add to it.
