Kentucky Is No. 12 in Both the AP and Coaches Polls After Oklahoma Win

Kentucky's win in Norman just paid off twice. The Wildcats are No. 12 in both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll, released Sunday after Saturday night's 21-13 road win over Oklahoma. In the AP poll, Kentucky jumped three spots from No. 15, per AL.com's Mike Rodak and On3. In the Coaches Poll it climbed five spots, per ESPN's rankings.
Tennessee is one spot ahead at No. 11 in both polls, and Alabama is right behind at No. 13. Kentucky sits at 6-1 with 979 Coaches Poll points and no first-place votes. The coaches also dropped Oklahoma completely: the Sooners were receiving votes last week and didn't get a single one this time, per On3.
Our Take: Climbing in both polls for beating an unranked team on the road says voters are buying what Will Stein has built, not just the record. The schedule gives Kentucky a chance to keep climbing. Vanderbilt comes to Kroger Field next Saturday, and the Nov. 7 trip to No. 11 Tennessee is shaping up as a playoff-sized game.
