Rasmussen Pitches a Shutout as Kentucky Men's Soccer Holds James Madison to a 0-0 Draw

Kentucky men's soccer went on the road Sunday night and played James Madison to a 0-0 draw at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
Neither side found the net in 90 minutes. JMU outshot Kentucky 11-10 and put 3 shots on frame to UK's 2. The Dukes pushed hard after the break, taking 7 of their 11 shots and all 7 of their corner kicks in the second half, but Kentucky's back line held.
How it went: Goalkeeper Benjamin Rasmussen went the full 90 and made 3 saves for the clean sheet. Up top, Costa Iliadis led UK with 3 shots, and Eric Onos and Yasha Schaerer each put one on target, both stopped by JMU keeper Erik Jaspers (2 saves). It was a physical one: Kentucky was called for 13 fouls to JMU's 10 and picked up three yellow cards (Schaerer, Max Schrader and Cianole Nguepissi), while JMU had one (Christer Salvesen).
Injuries: we haven't seen any injury news come out of the match.
Our Take: After four straight losses, a road clean sheet is exactly what this group needed. The defense that leaked late against Coastal Carolina on Wednesday stood up to a second-half push here. The missing piece is still the final ball: two shots on target won't win many games, and the Cats need to turn that pressure into goals in the last two regular-season games.
What's next: Kentucky comes home to host Georgia Southern on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. ET at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, then closes the regular season at Georgia State on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. ET.
