No. 1 in the Nation: Kentucky Owns the Best Résumé in College Football, Per ESPN

Read that headline again, BBN. After Week 8, Kentucky is No. 1 in the country in strength of record, per ESPN's FPI résumé rankings. Saturday Down South was first to flag it.

What does that mean? ESPN's strength of record measures the chance that an average Top 25 team would have your record or better against your schedule. In plain English: nobody in America has done more with what was put in front of them than the 7-1 Cats.

On ESPN's list, Kentucky sits ahead of UCLA at No. 2, Miami at No. 3 and Ohio State at No. 4. ESPN's FPI now gives the Cats a 52.1% chance to make the College Football Playoff.

The polls are catching up too. Kentucky is No. 9 in the AP poll, its highest spot since 2022, and sits alone atop the SEC at 5-1 after the 34-17 win over Vanderbilt.

Our Take: the power index can still argue about how good this team is. The résumé can't be argued with. Four games left, starting at Tennessee on Nov. 7. Go Cats.
