Kentucky Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at the Landfall Tradition as Cathryn Brown Ties for Third

No. 25 Kentucky women's golf finished sixth in the 18-team field at the Landfall Tradition on Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall (Dye Course) in Wilmington, N.C.
The Wildcats shot 291 and 293 over the first two rounds to sit in a tie for third, then posted a 308 in a tough final round to finish at 892 (+28). Duke won the team title at 869.
How it went: Senior Cathryn Brown led the way again. She closed with an even-par 72 on Sunday (70-74-72) to finish at 216 (E), tied for third with South Carolina's Eila Galitsky among 96 players. Only Duke's Rianne Malixi (-12, medalist) and Wake Forest's Macy Pate (-3) finished ahead of her. Isabella Johnson tied for 14th at 221 (+5), C.A. Carter and Karlie Campbell tied for 59th at 230 (+14), and Lucy Cook was T92 at 241.
Our Take: Brown is playing like one of the best in the country, and a top-three finish in a field with Wake Forest, Auburn, Duke and South Carolina proves it. The team result stings after sitting tied for third through 36 holes, but finishing sixth in this field is still a solid first event as a ranked team. The Cats just need a fourth and fifth score to back up Brown and Johnson on the hard days.
