The nation noticed: Kentucky lands at No. 12 on McMurphy's AP ballot

By ·

Kentucky went into Saturday unranked in the AP poll. It might not stay that way for long.

Brett McMurphy, an AP Top 25 voter, put Kentucky at No. 12 on his Week 6 ballot, right behind 5-0 UCLA and ahead of Utah. He dropped LSU to No. 23. That's one voter, not the poll, so we'll wait on the official AP Top 25, which comes out Sunday afternoon.

The rest of the country was already talking overnight. A Sea of Blue rounded up the reaction: Pat McAfee, part of a College GameDay crew that picked LSU across the board, had plenty to say after, ESPN kept showing the sea of blue on the field at Kroger Field, and the Cats' social team trolled LSU's fake Kenny Minchey quote.

And the stakes are real. Kentucky is 3-1 in the SEC, and Will Stein is the first coach in UK history to start 3-1 in league play in his first season, per UK Athletics.

Ranked or not, BBN knows what it saw. Where should the Cats land? Tell us.
