Kentucky Roundup: Uvwo Picks Providence, UCF Tune-Up Tonight and Stein's Self-Scout | Big Blue Times card

It's game day at Rupp, and a busy Wednesday all around Big Blue Nation.

The recruiting news stings a little. On3 reports five-star center Lewis Uvwo committed to Providence, choosing the Friars over Kentucky, Baylor and Cal. A Sea of Blue has it too: Uvwo picks Providence over Baylor and Kentucky. Our full take on what the miss means is right here.

Then it's back to the floor. UK Athletics says No. 23 Kentucky hosts UCF in its final exhibition tonight on SEC Network. One last dress rehearsal before the Nov. 3 opener against Manhattan.

On the football side, Will Stein used the SEC Teleconference to talk about the bye-week self-scout before turning the focus to Tennessee. KSR has everything Stein said, including his call for faster starts and better special teams.

The women's team is still sorting out one spot. KSR reports Kenny Brooks will run point guard by committee to begin the season, with freshman Maddyn Greenway and Alabama transfer Diana Collins sharing the job.

Around the Blue: Sports Illustrated notes volleyball coach Craig Skinner has a contract extension through 2031. He's in his 22nd season, and he isn't going anywhere.

Our Take: one recruiting miss doesn't define a class, and tonight is about getting this team ready for games that count. Go Cats!
