Jordan Castell Goes National: Kentucky Safety Named Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week

Jordan Castell's night in Norman just went national. The FWAA named the Kentucky safety its Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, a day after he was the SEC's pick.

Both picks in the 21-13 win at Oklahoma counted: he didn't bite on the fake field goal, then took the last one back 41 yards for his first college touchdown in the final 90 seconds. Add nine tackles and a pass breakup. He's only the second Wildcat to win it since 2001, after Maxwell Hairston in 2023.

Our Take: Four picks, tops in the SEC, and now a spot on the Nagurski watch list. Vanderbilt visits Kroger Field Saturday (5:30 PM MT, SEC Network) with the Cats 6-1.
